The record breaking HR ball that Barry Bonds hit was sold on Saturday September 15th. The ball that tied Hank Aaron at 755 went for $186,750. That’s a good chunk of change. The seller is expected to take home about 90 grand after taxes. Most of the money will be invested and some will go towards a cousin in college.
The record breaker 756th ball was sold at a whopping $752,467. If you remember this ball was caught by a student that was on his way to australia and bought a ticket that day for $100. Not a bad return. I would guess he’s going to be bringing home about $350,000 after taxes on that sale.
Both buyers did not want their names to be released. We’ll eventually find out who bought the two balls in a few years when they want to sell them again. So if you’re looking to make a quick half million or more you may want to watch Alex Rodriguez and try to catch his record breaking ball. I would guess he’s going to break Barry Bonds record in the near future.
