I started the P90X workout this Monday. I’m not one to watch those infomercials unless it’s about golf. I haven’t actually watched the whole P90X workout program but I did see what their focus was and that was interesting. The main idea behind the Beach Body workout is “Muscle Confusion”.
Basically they don’t want the muscles to get in such a routine that you stall at some point. I can attest that working with the first week of DVD’s my muscles are 100% confused. I really like how the program is laid out. Each day is something new and very hard. The same weekly routine lasts for 3 weeks with a 4th week slightly different. Two more of these types of sessions and that gets you through 90 days.
Monday was a lot of push-ups and pull-ups. I use workout bands to do the pull-ups since I don’t have a bar and don’t want to buy an expensive pull-up bar. When they say “pace yourself” PLEASE DO. Here’s a quick example. The first set of push-ups I thought I’d pace myself and do 15, no big deal. By the end of the DVD I did 3 before I collapsed and cried like a baby. (not literally)
Tuesday was Plyometrics and that was a little easier since my legs are a little bit better in shape than my upper body. Wednesday is my day I usually play basketball so I skipped that day. Thursday was Yoga. Yoga is very difficult and tough. I read some other reviews where they were sweating a lot and boy are they right. You wouldn’t think holding some moves would be so much work but yoga puts you in some wacky positions that you have to hold and your muscles are not used to it.
All in all I’m enjoying my workout and can’t wait to see how it goes the next 85 days. My next step is to slowly decrease my crappy eating habits. I need to quit the snacks and other fatty foods.

Good luck with your workout. Reminds me that I need to start doing this kind of stuff again. I’ve never done yoga but it sounds interesting and I think would help me with stretching and overall health.
ok first i bet you did cry like a baby and second good luck sounds like you are off to a good start.
well after reading your post I feel now I also should start my workouts. Thanks for sharing this with me.
I’ll update after this week but a minor update during week 2. MUCH easier this week. WoW after you don’t do crap for a long time that first week is TOUGH. Fight through it.
Good Luck! I am starting my P90X tonight after work. I can’t wait, I’m really excited. Some friends of mine got me into the program and they said they threw up the first day, so I’m really not looking foreward to that. Well, good luck, i started my blog, thep90xreview dot com
Your mum is funny =] but anyways good luck with trying to avoid eating any junk food – I’ve tried but since my parents buy so much junkfood my house is like a junkfood palace.
Try not to buy a lot of junk food, if it’s not around you, it won’t tempt you as much =] I think that’s your best bet!
Thanks for the info bro.
Much appreciated man. Hope to hear from you soon!
I think you better also check on the TurboFire workout. Some people say its better than the P90x.
I agree with Jean, TurboFire can burn 9x more fat than most cardio programs and the cardio workouts in p90x are kind of lame.
[...] have to laugh at myself. Back in March of 2008 I think I tried my 2nd round of P90X. It’s hard to remember but I have “before” [...]
If you think P90X was awesome, wait until P90X2 comes out! Its going to be 10x better than P90X in my opinion.
Yep, we bought it the minute it opened up and already have it. Jan. 1st we’ll start.
