Nearly a month ago I was checking my iGoogle page and noticed Jon Volk was giving away a few of John Chow’s #1 best seller book (ok maybe not #1). Volk’s contest was simple, spam that blog post with comments and the 1st, 25th, 37th and 50th comment would win a signed copy of the book.

I was at work and didn’t think anything of it. I wasn’t going to sit there and watch the spam. When i got home from work I ran through blog posts again and checked out the contest. I literally clicked on the blog post and saw that if I commented I would win. Sure enough i commented right then and there and won a free copy. What crazy luck.

So as you can see from the photo’s Jon sent me the copy just the other day. I’ve got to say it’s a well written book. Here you can see Chow and Michael Kwan signatures.

With a forward from Joel Comm and 13 chapters of his own history and insight it was a very easy read even for a non-reader such as myself. I think my favorite chapter was John’s story of how he got started back in 1999. An interesting portion of his history talked about how he feels Google “saved” the dot com downfall of the early 2000′s. It was and excellent recap of what happened during that time for those that are unfamiliar with the short history of the Internet.

I probably would have purchased the book myself as i have been a fan of John Chow and was lucky enough to meet John during his time on the TAC show.

Like I said, the book was a good read and worth well worth it to those that are looking to get started in the make money online niche. I was able to pick out a few things that I will now implement in some of my websites that I own.

-Thank you Jonathan Volk
-Thank you John Chow

Big Jason Henderson put together a webinar featuring Shoemoney. Shoemoney went through a nice power point that started “in the beginning of shoemoney time” and continued to the now. I was impressed with a few slides that he created two days ago and dropped them in at a certain point of his talk.

Quality content was the focus of the webinar. You can do a lot with monetization if you have good content and keep your content rolling. It’s almost the “If you build it they will come” method. Although when you are finished building you must continue your content so there is still work to do after the fact. Pretty simple but still some people need to hear it.

After the webinar was a Q&A session which was ok. Some people ask dumb questions but others asked decent questions that made Shoemoney think a little. There was the question if he ever felt like things written previously where he almost wishes he could take it back. The answer came out that a magazine recently used a post from 3 years ago where he bashed some one. It’s bad because it’s an old post but hey, he was mentioned in a mag. so great traffic from there.

All in all the webinar was nice and I hope I win one of those great prizes.

ANYWAY, subscribe to my RSS feed by clicking the top right chicklet (orange counter) to be sure you can be first or second to read what I’m giving away. That was your first hint “first or second”.

It might be wise to be signed up on my newsletter before then too. Good Luck
