This past Black Friday was the most fun I’ve had. The wife and I went up to Best Buy at 10pm Thanksgiving night. We did not sleep and were 14th in line. We stayed awake by freezing (it was about 35 degrees during the night) and by watching season 1 of Entourage. I have never watched it so it kept us interested.
We spent quite a few dollars but I made double what we spent on Black Friday Campaigns so I think it evens out. Here is a list of what we purchased.
- HP Desktop with 22in. monitor and photo printer (package deal)
- Toshiba Laptop (door buster, needed a ticket to get it)
- Office Home and Student 2007 ($50 each)
- Cannon 10MP camera
- Western Digital 1TB External HDD (for all the videos of my little girl)
- Rock Band for Wii
- iPod Nano (for a blog contest later)
For those of you that think it’s stupid to sit in line for 7 hours just to spend money……. it is. It kind of sucked because it was cold and i was in and out of consciences most of the day Friday. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed the experience so it’s all good.

I like buying things when my old stuff is really useless.

By being in line and what you purchased, how much did you save? However, I understand that is not the only benefit. Like when I was a kid, standing in line overnight for concert tickets was half the fun. Don’t know if they still do that with online ticket purchases. My day was pre-Internet/pre-cell phones.
I’m estimating that I saved close to $1,500. Like I mentioned I bet the computers were 40-50% off and right there is $1,000 in savings and then the other items were $100 off here and there.
Sorry your Black Friday experience wasn’t too great on the shopping side, but at least you had fun watching Entourage! I didn’t find too many good sales, either. Maybe closer to the holidays. Happy shopping!
