Math Camp Part III

Category: Personal
4 Comments

I think this is part three anyway. In my quest to become a Master Mathematician I’ll be taking an online course this fall semester. It will be the biggest challenge so far. The first three courses were on campus, together with everyone. Here you can bounce ideas off of everyone to get better ideas and better solutions. This online class is almost totally on your own.

We’ll have small groups that will meet on a cool program called Breeze. It’s a webcam meeting place. In a meeting there will be small windows where you can type like a chat, share your computer screen or show a picture of some solution you think is right. I am hopeful these weekly meetings will be enough to get through the homework we must submit every 10 days or so.

I didn’t want to start on my stuff right away after I just got out of class yesterday but I read through the problems. I was able to solve one in a half an hour and the others I don’t think I came close yet. Looks like I have a LONG road ahead of me.

If anyone reading is a mathematician give me a ping I may ask you a question or two to see if you’re familiar with some of these topics. If you enjoyed this post please subscribe to My Full Feed.

I don’t mind Algebra but I’m not sure I enjoyed doing it online. It’s a difficult environment to study Algebra in because you don’t really have anyone to speak with “hands on”.
