Shaqs Big Challenge

Shaq’s Big Challenge aired yesterday June 26th and I wanted to check it out. My first impression of the show was, here we go again. As the show kept rolling I was pretty amazed at how Shaq talked to the kids about their personal feelings on being fat. Some of these kids really got emotional when asked what happens at school.

There are six kids that are taking part in his Big Challenge. From what I remember, the kids are all ages 11-14 and they are all over 200 pounds. These kids could not do a push-up or a sit-up at all. Every single one of them failed the standard test for physical fitness in school. The trainer made them run a mile and see if they met the standard. Again, all of them failed and I believe the last kid that crossed was about 17 minutes. If you haven’t tried as an adult, most of us can walk a mile in 15 minutes or less.

I truly believe this show is going to be a little different than these other reality shows. Most of these reality shows, even the other weight loss shows, are built for entertainment. This is exactly what some kids need, a superstar like Shaquille to show them that he cares and wants them to become healthy. I will warn you before you watch the show, if you’re an emotional person you may want to grab a box of tissues.
