Since one of my favorite blogs has to call it quits and is now redirected to JohnChow.com I thought I’d help out and give some ideas to John Cow dot Com, or others wanting to copy his method, on his next endeavor.

10. angadget.com (engadget)

9. boing-bong.com (boingboing)

8. gizmoodo.com (gizmodo)

7. techycrunch.com (techcrunch)

6. tea-mz.com (TMZ)

5. darren-rose.com (problogger)

4. shoemonkey.com (shoemoney)

3. pairezhilton.com (perezhilton)

2. idonthaveacheeseburger.com (icanhascheezburger)

1. browies.com (browie)

Ok, so maybe the #1 idea is a little bias but hey that would be nice if some one coppied me and then that created traffic for my blog.

He received a letter that said he had some copyright issues so he decided to close it down instead of fight. Now the blog redirects to John Chow.

I assume this came from John Chow and that is why his site redirects there now.

Probloggar.com might be easier than darren rose. That was a good linkbait trick, but can really only be used on popular blogs to create a buzz. I should include that in my next e-book.

Interesting, an ebook huh? I have a .com that is related to ebooks, I’m going to be building that and getting it ready soon.

That is just typo squatting, as was john cow, the only difference between typosquatting and what john cow did, was to theme the site around the typo. Anyways, tyo squatting is useless, you should try to build YOUR OWN name, not copy someone elses.

Don’t worry, it was just a trick. John Cow is back.

You’re right, content sites are better than simply copying, but at the very least you can get the name and park it on Sedo and get the stragglers.

Somebody out there snagged up gizmoodo.com, wonder if it was John Cow …. then there could be a whole cow themed network! Al the black and white spottedness.
